Departmental Delegation for the Environment, Nature Protection and Wouri Sustainable Development and the “*Let’s do It Cameroon*” association organizes a special waste collection day associated with sports in the city from Douala.
Announcement made during a press conference given on September 13 in the village hall of Akwa.

Represented in Cameroon by the “Let’s Do It Cameroon” association  By Miss Ngangnjoh Memunatu Riyuh the international network NGO “Let’s Do It World” born in 2008 when the first Estonian Cleanup Day called *“let’s do it”* organized by this NGO, had mobilized 50,000 people who cleaned up Estonia in only 5 hours. A network that currently touches 191 nations. hence the history of the world day of the cleaning. A positive act that has gained momentum by inspiring communities to become aware of the importance of cleaning their environment.

launched this year in Douala under the theme « it’s the
only home we have » through partnership actions with actors in the public and private sectors that share the same vision of a world without waste and believe that together we can clean the world of trash for good.

It was also a question during this conference of defining the contours of the organization of this activity, namely:
– Organize pick-up in the cities of Cameroon;
Raising citizen awareness;
– Characterize the waste found in the environment in order to assess the responsibility of the producers;
– Promote coordination of the actors involved in waste collection;
– Train and build the capacity of target organizations in waste management.

Beyond collecting
waste, the goal of world clean up day is to change behaviors and awaken awareness of ecological concepts such as « the best produced, the best consumed. or even the best consumed and less thrown away.

Make the environment cleaner by mobilizing millions of
people around the world to eliminate pollution from forests, rivers, parks, cities, oceans and other ecosystems is the world’s largest one-day civic action engaging more than 191 countries to tackle the global waste crisis. A mission of Let’s Do It world and World Cleanup Day.

It should be noted that World Cleanup Day is not a solution to the waste crisis, it is an awareness campaign. Overall, the objective of this activity according to the NGO Let’s do it World, is to reach 5% of the population of each country
in order to initiate the transformation of societies and to federate a solid and
single player such as local authorities; schools; associations and businesses.
